Named after a dismantled Duquesne blast Furnace, this new gallery spot is located 6 miles from down town Pittsburgh in the Allegheny County borough of Braddock. When Dorothy 6 was in operation, it employed many of the residents of the Mon Valley, and when US Steel shut down the furnace, it meant the loss of many jobs and began the decline of Braddock's economy. Braddock is still home to United States Steel Corporation’s J. Edgar Thomson Works which is in operation. It is also home to America’s oldest Carnegie Library and is across the street from Dorothy 6.
