Primary Artist Statement:

I elevate the smaller elements in the natural world to center stage, illuminating patterns of light and shapes for the onlooker to appreciate and discern.

About Rick Byerly:

After a 2001 solo trek along the continental divide trail in Colorado I realized photography would be the best medium to appreciate the natural beauty and chaos of this world and life. After studying darkroom techniques at Pittsburgh Filmmakers I moved to digital photography and now work in both mediums.

High School: Shady Side Academy in Pittsburgh, Pa. Undergraduate studies: B.A. in English from the University of Vermont. Darkroom work at Pittsburgh Filmmakers.

Member: Associated Artists of Pittsburgh, Silver Eye Center for Photography, Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council.
