Rick's primary passion and goal with photography is to seek out the unusual in nature and offer it in a seldom accessed way. In removing frame of reference for a particular part of nature he zooms in and captures texture, light, color, and movement for the purpose of bringing forth previously unseen images. Photography conventionally lends itself to what people can easily reference or identify with. This is far from what drives Rick to a camera and to the unusual in the natural world. The unusual can range from patterns in bacteria colored thermal waters in Yellowstone to longer exposures of wind crazed snowflakes in a storm on a street.
He trained at Pittsburgh Filmmakers and is an artist member of the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh. All of Rick's photography prints follow archival standards and are all part of limited edition series. With few exceptions most prints are part of a one time series of 50, some 25.

In October 2009, The Pittsburgh Technology Council purchased my large print titled, 10 Second Pittsburgh, and presented it to Google CEO Eric Schmidt for his involvement in G20 related activities in Pittsburgh, PA.
